Rosneft contests refusal of suit against Transneft for contamination

MOSCOW, Jan 16 (PRIME) -- Rosneft has sent an appeal against a court decision to turn down its court suit against Transneft for losses caused by oil contamination on the Druzhba pipeline in 2019, according to the court documents seen by PRIME on Monday.

The suit was registered on January 13 and will be sent to the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeals.

The Druzhba pipeline exporting oil to Europe across Belarus was polluted with chloride in 2019. Transneft said that by April 2022, it had compensated all losses to the sides of the oil transit deals totaling more than U.S. $170 million.

Rosneft sued Transneft for 3.4 billion rubles, $120.9 million, 73.9 million Poland's zlotys, about 48,000 euros and about 6,000 British pounds.
